Irene has over 30 years of experience in physiotherapy practice both in Australia and in the USA with an extremely wide and varied scope of practice which includes the areas of musculoskeletal injury, back and neck pain, geriatrics and women’s health.
Irene has been the attending therapist for a number of professional and semi-professional sporting teams and events during her career, and was the attending therapist for the 1992 season of the American Ballet Theatre performance season in New York City.
She has taught physiotherapy and anatomy subjects at City University of New York, Australian Catholic University and The University of Sydney. She has conducted research into the effect of exercise on falls prevention in the elderly, the effects of repeated movement in the lumbar spine on peripheral muscle strength. and the development of effective mentoring programs for physiotherapists who supervise Australian graduate and undergraduate physiotherapy students.
Irene is a credentialled McKenzie Therapist, gaining this qualification in the USA in 1994. She has a particular interest in the treatment of spinal pain utilising the McKenzie method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy.
